Aim

The overall aim of the Junior Faculty School is to connect PhD students, postdoctoral students, and junior faculty to the e-government research community to provide advice on how to plan and manage the tenure process and future career, and to offer a platform for discussions about theory and methods, as well as networking. The Junior Faculty School consists of keynotes, panels, discussions, and interactive sessions designed specifically for junior faculty to be oriented and prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead. Spend a day with a group of distinguished scholars, mid-career faculty who have gone through the tenure process more recently, as well as peer colleagues to exchange experiences, thoughts, and concerns about conducting research and developing a career in e-government.

Participation Method

The Junior Faculty School will be highly interactive, containing keynotes, panels, and round table discussions. Lectures will be given by top-scholars on

Overview of history and trends within the field of e-government
Rigor, relevance, and impact of e-government research
Career building and publishing

As part of these activities, participants are given the opportunity to discuss issues and receive mentoring and feedback from experienced scholars.

Some pre-reading material will be made available as a preparation for the day.

Target Audience

We welcome all PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and junior faculty (max 5 years in an academic position) within the wider field of information and communication technologies in the public sector. We strongly encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and will strive to achieve balance across gender, domains, and nationalities.

Application process

The number of participants is limited to maintain the richness and intimacy of the experience. The application to participate is done through the main conference website in the Easy Chair conference management system (see submission information for the conference in general).

Make a submission for the track called Junior Faculty School and provide the following information:

Year of PhD graduation/ Expected year of PhD graduation
Current position/university
Brief description of research interests and motivation to participate (up to 250 words)

Admission and benefits

The Junior Faculty School chairs admit participants to the event based on their submitted application. To be able to attend, you furthermore need to register for the full conference (except for the students accepted for participation in the PhD colloquium – see info on PhD Colloquium).
