The IFIP EGOV-CeDEM-ePart 2025 conference will be hosted in Austria, in the Alpine Republic of Europe, at the University for Continuing Education Krems. The Campus itself is a byword for, and a focus on student life for universities throughout the world. Since October 2005 the University for Continuing Education Krems (Danube University Krems) is also a campus university. Spanning an area of 34,000 square meters, the campus is utilized jointly by the University for Continuing Education Krems, IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems and Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences. About Göttweig Abbey

The PhD Colloquium and Junior Faculty School take place at Göttweig Abbey, a historic Benedictine monastery situated atop a hill in Austria’s Wachau Valley. Known for its impressive baroque architecture, Göttweig Abbey offers a setting that blends historical significance with a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for focused academic discussions. With origins dating back to the 11th century, the monastery provides a unique context for scholarly exchange.

Participants benefit from engaging sessions in an environment enriched by the Abbey’s long history and the scenic views of the surrounding vineyards and the Danube River. Important information about accommodation and transportation in Krems

The city of Krems offers a wide variety of accommodations, from modern hotels to cozy bed and breakfasts. EGOV2025 will be held at Campus Krems. The city center is connected to the campus by frequent city buses, which makes it convenient to travel by bus. It is also possible to walk to Campus Krems. Walking from the city center takes approximately 25 minutes. We recommend accommodation in Krems for a more convenient commuting to the conference venue.

Transportation – how to reach Krems

By air

Vienna-Schwechat Airport is located a 1 hour ride from the campus Krems by taxi or car. https://www.viennaairport.com/en/passengers 

Trains between Vienna-Schwechat Airport and Krems are frequent. https://www.oebb.at/en/  

For travelling by taxi we can recommend the company Airportservice Waldviertel-Krems. Here you get a fixed price (105 €) with the code “EGOV2025”. By train

from Vienna

From Vienna Central Station with the ÖBB-Railjet (possibility to change trains in Vienna Meidling) to St. Pölten, then with the regional train to Krems (1 change); journey time: approx. 1:15, trains run hourly.

From Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof with the ÖBB-REX (connections in Wien Spittelau and Wien Heiligenstadt) to Krems; journey time: 1:10, trains run every hour.

From Vienna Airport with the ÖBB-Railjet to St. Pölten, then with the regional train to Krems (1 change); journey time: 1:40, trains run every hour.

from St. Pölten

Regional trains from St. Pölten main station stop in Herzogenburg, Statzendorf, Paudorf, Göttweig, Furth-Palt. Journey time: approx. 30-45 minutes, trains 1 to 2 times per hour`.

Practical Information

  • Currency: euro
  • Credit and debit cards: Visa, Mastercard and Maestro are widely accepted in Austria.
  • Business hours: Most stores in Austria are open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. Large malls often extend their opening hours to 8 or 9pm. There will be no public holidays in Austria during the period of the conference.
  • Emergency phone numbers: The venue has provisions for first aid and medical care. If you need emergency services, call 144.
  • Electrical Voltage and Adapters: Standard voltage is 230 Volts, AC 50Hz. Primary sockets require European plugs with two round pins. If you are coming from a country with a different standard, we recommend that you pack a universal travel adapter.
  • Time zone: During the period of the conference, Central European Summer Time is in effect in Austria. This is 1 hour ahead of Central European Time (CET) and 2 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
