Digital Government Society is excited to announce the establishment of a new chapter–Digital Government Society Chapter on Governing Smart Sustainable Cities (DGS GSSC).

GSSC Chapter is a Special Interest Group within the Digital Government Society. This thematic group is dedicated to uniting a global community of researchers focused on smart sustainable cities and smart governance within the digital government sphere. The group serves as a dynamic global research community, committed to advancing technological, managerial, and policy innovations that are transforming urban landscapes around the world. Members collaborate to exchange ideas, share cutting-edge knowledge, and showcase the latest research and practical innovations, all with the goal of enhancing the quality of life and opportunities for those living and working in smart sustainable cities and communities.
The Chapter’s goals are:

  • Establishing connections among those engaged in leading-edge smart sustainable cities research.
  • Promoting the development of a cohesive and connected research community in the field of smart sustainable cities.
  • Laying the foundation for interdisciplinary and multinational research teams.
  • Providing a network for sharing knowledge and expertise.

The GSSC Chapter is the successor to the Smart Cities Smart Government Research Practice Consortium, originally based at the Center for Technology in Government at the University at Albany, State University of New York. As of August 2024, this initiative has transitioned to the Digital Government Society, with institutional support now provided by the Center for E-Governance at the University for Continuing Education Krems, Austria.
