The Annual International Conference on Digital Government Research (dg.o) is an established forum for presenting, discussing, and demonstrating interdisciplinary research on digital government, ICT and public administration, political participation, civic engagement, technology innovation, applications, and practice. Each year the conference brings together scholars recognized for their work’s interdisciplinary and innovative nature, their contributions to the rigor of theory and relevance of practice, their focus on important and timely topics, and the quality of their writing. The series is organized by the Digital Government Society (DGS).

The dg.o 2025 conference

The 26th Annual International Conference on Digital Government Research (dg.o 2025) will examine how digital government can promote social cohesion to lessen inequalities. The focus will be on reinforcing social ties, accountable democracy, and fair law enforcement, allowing communities to collectively address social conflicts and disparities while enhancing citizens’ sense of belonging and engagement. Social cohesion operates on three levels: individual, community, and institutional. The individual level emphasizes open communication and participation; the community level focuses on loyalty, solidarity, and mutual support; and the institutional level aims to decrease social conflicts and inequalities through collaborative governance, especially in the Global South.
The dg.o 2025 Conference welcomes studies that investigate these critical issues and seek to showcase practices that strengthen social cohesion and reduce inequalities through digital government, particularly in contexts where these challenges are most serious. Meaningful connectivity and inclusive digital policies are crucial for overcoming digital inequalities, ensuring access to connectivity and digital skills, and recognizing the Internet as a crucial tool for combating inequalities and accessing fundamental rights.
