MOU between DGS and ICF — Joint Program at dg.o2017

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)  has been signed between The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) and The Digital Government Society (DGS) to hold a joint program and share activities for the 18th International Conference on Digital Government Research  (dg.o 2017) & the ICF Summit 2017 on June 7, 2017.

The goal of the partnership is to bring the research and application communities together to share knowledge, allow each group to network at a deeper level and explore new partnerships to advance urban and rural innovation.  Based on this agreement, both parties intend to make best efforts to continue their long term partnership with a shared goal of bridging the gap between research and practice through interdisciplinary, multi-sector interactions, communications and innovations.

The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) is a global network of cities and regions with a think tank at its center. Its mission is to help communities use information and communications technology (ICT) to create inclusive prosperity, tackle social and governance challenges and enrich their quality of life.  Each year, the leaders of Intelligent Communities gather with their partners in technology, education, business, economic development, healthcare and other sectors at the ICF Summit.  The ICF Summit 2017 is planned in June 6-8 in NY City, overlapping with the DGS’s annual conference on Digital Government Research (dg.o) to be held in CUNY College of Staten Island in June 7-9.

The joint program for the day (June 7, 2017) will take place at the dg.o venue, the City University of New York (CUNY) Campus in Staten Island, New York.  We expect over 100 ICF summit delegates (mostly government officials) and over 100 dg.o conference participants (mostly researchers) to conduct a series of workshops, speeches, panel sessions and joint programming events.  The goal is to seek a mixture of events and formats to give both groups exposure to the other’s content and expertise.  The evening reception for the world’s Top7 Intelligent Communities of 2017 will be hosted by ICF at a location in Manhattan.  The dg.o 2017 participants are invited to attend the reception as part of the welcome reception for the conference.
