Welcome the new DGS Secretary
Dear DGS members and colleagues:
We are happy to announce that the DGS Board has elected Dr. Adegboyega Ojo as our new secretary of the board for the remaining term of the DGS board, starting from Dec 4, 2016 to Dec 31, 2017.
We acknowledge Dr. Natalie Helbig for her contribution as the DGS Secretary during Jan-Nov, 2016. She has worked diligently and passionately for the DGS activities, functioning as a participant, a conference chair, a board member and the secretary of the board. We would like to thank Natalie sincerely for her dedicated services for many years for the advancement of the Society. We wish her success in her position at NY State Department of Health, and her continued involvement as a DGS member.
Adegboyega Ojo (PhD) is Senior Research Fellow and E-Government Unit Leader at Insight Centre for Data Analytics, National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG). His expertise covers Open data strategies and infrastructures, Open data intensive public services, E-Government Services and e-Participation infrastructure and Governance of Smart Cities. He is currently Principal Investigator on three EU Horizon 2020 projects in the area of Open data platforms and co-creation of data-driven public services. He regularly advises the e-Government Branch of United Nations Economic and Social Affairs/Division for Public Administration and Development Management on policies for the data-driven integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG2030).
He led the development of National IT Strategies for countries in Asia and Africa while at the United Nations University. He has served in several international conferences as Program and Track Chairs. Adegboyega has over the years supported the participation of e-government scholars and practitioners from Africa in major international e-government conferences. His vision for the DGS is to establish a robust regional chapter of the Society in Africa.
He has been contributing to the DGS in many fronts, including the recent responsibility to lead the Communications Committee which publishes a quarterly DGS newsletter.
