Welcome the new DGS Officers and Board Members

The DGS election committee (chaired by John Bertot) announces and welcomes newly elected DGS Board Members and officers.   

The new board (2016-2017) consists of the following members:

NSF/USDA(NIFA) issue INFEWS solicitation 16-524

National Science Foundation (NSF) in partnership with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)/National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) recently issued the awaited INFEWS solicitation 16-524 with a budget of $50M. Proposals are due in late March, 2016. It’s estimated number of awards is between 22 and 40 across four tracks, namely, FEW system modeling, Visualization and Decision Support, Innovative Systems Solutions and Education/Workforce Development.

MOOC course on Open Government at Delft University of Technology

Delft University of Technology launches Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) about Open Government While governments all over the world aim to become more open and transparent, opening governments is a complex and challenging problem. How can governments become more open and transparent, while simultaneously dealing with various challenges, such as data sensitivity? How can open government data be made available to improve public policy making? Which technologies are available to make governments more open and to use open government data?
