Awards Nomination and Selection Process

 

  • Distinguished Service Awards

The DGS Distinguished Service Award recognizes one individual each year for extraordinary service to the DGS community. Areas of service could include, but are not limited to: society service, conference organization, representation of DGS in other organizations, including academic, government and community organizations, or influential service as a government agency, resulting in positive effects on the field of Digital Government. Nominees must be current members of the DGS. 

All regular members of DGS are invited to nominate a candidate name, a brief description for candidate’s contributions, and two references, including one from the nominator. Nominations will be reviewed by the DGS Awards Committee, and their final recommendation will be approved by the DGS President. Nominations are due March 31, each year.

Record of Service:  List principal positions of service to the DGS or the DG community, and briefly describe primary responsibilities for each position. Examples of service positions include society service, service as an DG-related journal editor, conference organization, representation of DGS in other organizations (such as EGOV, ICEGOV), or influential service as a government agency (e.g. program director promoting the DG research areas), resulting in positive effects on the field of Dgitial Government.

Proposed Citation (to appear on the award certificate -- citation should begin "For contributions to the field of digital government through sustained service ..." followed by a phrase of not more than 20 carefully edited words that reflect this candidate's demonstrated service to the community):

References:  At least two letters of reference are required, including one from the nominator. Nominator has obtained an indication of willingness to serve from each individual listed as a reference below.
